Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 16, 2026
This policy covers FrumTrip (frumtrip.com), a free kosher travel guide to shuls, kosher food, mikvaos, places to stay and zmanim, and the FrumTrip AI Trip Planner. It explains in plain English what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
This policy is also available in Hebrew, Yiddish, French and Spanish. The English version is the governing version: if a translation differs, the English text applies.
The short version
- No account is needed for the guide. The Trip Planner offers an optional account so you can save trips.
- We only get your name, phone or email when you choose to send them: a message, a correction, a voice note, minyan times, an ad request, a planner account, or a plan you ask us to email.
- We count visits without storing your IP address.
- We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.
1. What you send us on the guide
- Contact form: your name, email and/or phone, your role, the topic, your message, the listing or page, and whether we may contact you. Used to read and answer it.
- “Report a mistake”: the listing, what’s wrong and your suggested fix, your name, and a phone or email. Used to check the listing and ask you questions.
- Voice notes: the recording (up to 3 MB), its length, your first and last name, a phone or email, and the listing or page it’s about. Stored privately on our server.
- “Tell us what’s missing”: what you looked for, and contact details only if you add them.
- Minyan times (Gabbai page): the shul, the times and notes, your name, your role at the shul, phone and email. Times are shown only after we approve them. Your phone and email are never published. If you tell us you are the shul’s gabbai and may update its times, your name is shown with the times (“Updated by …, gabbai”).
- Advertising requests: business name and type, town, your name, phone, email, message and the ad spot.
- Email to frumtrip.info@gmail.com or info@frumtrip.com: your address and what you write.
- WhatsApp: if you message the FrumTrip WhatsApp number, an automatic helper may answer travel questions from our listings. It keeps a small record on our computer of who it answered and when, and a name if you give one. Its technical log has no message text and masks your number. Chats stay in our WhatsApp Business app like any WhatsApp chat.
Please don’t send sensitive personal details (for example health information).
2. The AI Trip Planner
- Account (optional): your name, email, password and language. Your password is stored only as a scrambled one-way code (a salted hash). Nobody can read it, including us.
- Login cookie: keeps you signed in for 30 days. It holds a random code; our server keeps only a scrambled copy of it.
- Saved trips: destination, dates, the answers you picked and the plan settings. Without an account, your trip is kept only in your own browser.
- “Email my plan”: we send your plan once to the address you type, through our email service (Brevo). We don’t add you to any list. To stop abuse we keep a scrambled code of the address and of your connection for 2 days, and a note that an email was sent (without the address or the plan) for 30 days.
- Voice input: your recording goes to an AI speech-to-text service run by our hosting provider, and the text comes back to the page. Our code doesn’t save the recording. On a browser that can’t record, the browser’s own speech feature is used instead, under your browser maker’s policy.
- How plans are made: the planner builds your plan automatically, in your browser, from FrumTrip’s listings. Your trip answers are not sent to an AI service.
- Forgot password: email frumtrip.info@gmail.com from your signup address. We send a one-time reset link that works for 24 hours.
- Delete: “Delete my account” on My trips removes your account, every trip and every login right away.
3. Collected automatically
- Visit counts: when a page opens we add 1 to a counter for that page and day, and note in general terms where the visit came from (like “WhatsApp”, “Google” or “direct”). We don’t store your IP address, browser details or any ID.
- The
ftvcookie: holds only a date (the last day your browser was counted), so we can tell new visitors from returning ones. It lasts about 400 days and has no name or ID. - Searches: what people type in the search box and the “Ask us” box is saved with no name or contact details, so we can add what’s missing.
- Spam protection: to stop forms being flooded, we keep a scrambled one-way code made from your connection. It can’t be turned back into your IP address. It expires after one day and is cleared out the next time a form is used.
- Hosting: Cloudflare runs the site and the planner, so it handles every request (including your IP address) to deliver pages. Our hosting provider may keep short-term technical logs for security.
4. Kept only on your device
These are saved in your own browser, not sent to us:
- Guide: your language (
ft-lang), that you finished or skipped the tour (ft-tour-done), °C or °F (ft-wx-unit), your last zmanim city (ft-zm-city), the cities in “Shabbos times for my trip” (ft-zm-trip), and the area name for “Use my location” (ft-geo2-…). - Planner: your language (
bmkt-lang) and, if you plan without an account, your trip (bmkt-guest). - When the new design goes live: places you save with the ♡ (
ft-saved-v1), and your Near me position for this visit only (ft-geo).
You can clear these any time by clearing your browser’s data for the site.
5. Your location
We only use your location if you tap a location button and allow it when your browser asks. If you say no, you can pick a city instead.
- Zmanim, “Use my location”: your phone’s position is used to work out zmanim for where you are. To show your area’s name, your browser sends the coordinates to OpenStreetMap’s place-name service (Nominatim). The name is then kept on your device. Your coordinates also go into the page address so the page can be reloaded; our visit counter does not record them.
- Near me (when the new design goes live): your position stays on your phone for this visit, and the distances to places are worked out on your phone. If you type an address instead, it’s looked up as described in section 6.
We don’t store your location on our servers.
6. Other services some pages use
- Google Maps: listing pages show a Google map, and “Map” buttons open Google Maps. Google may collect information under its own policy.
- Apple Maps: “Apple Maps” links open Apple Maps. Nothing is sent until you tap.
- OpenStreetMap: the world map on the zmanim page loads map images from OpenStreetMap, and “Use my location” uses its place-name service.
- Komoot (Photon): when you type a place into a search box, the text you type goes to Photon (photon.komoot.io, OpenStreetMap data) to suggest addresses and towns.
- Google Fonts: the site’s fonts load from Google.
- Wikimedia Commons: photos load from Wikimedia’s servers.
- Weather: our server looks up the weather for the city you’re viewing (from MET Norway), not for you.
- WhatsApp (Meta): “Chat on WhatsApp” opens WhatsApp, which handles the chat under its own policy.
- Google (Gmail): our inbox, frumtrip.info@gmail.com, is a Gmail account. Mail to info@frumtrip.com is forwarded there. Planner password resets are handled through it.
- Brevo: sends the planner’s “Email my plan” emails.
- Cloudflare: hosts the site and the planner (see section 3).
- Booking sites: flight, hotel and tour buttons in the planner open those sites in a new tab. We don’t send them your name or email.
7. Who sees your information
The FrumTrip team sees what you send. We use AI tools to help us run the site: an AI assistant reads what comes in through the site forms, email and voice notes, transcribes voice notes, sorts messages, sends a short “thanks, we got it” reply, and summarizes requests for us. A person on our team decides any change to the guide. The planner’s voice input uses an AI speech-to-text service (section 2).
We never share your contact details with a shul or business, including when we check a correction with the place it’s about.
We don’t sell or rent your information, and we don’t share it with advertisers.
8. How long we keep it
- Spam-protection codes: one day.
- Planner email-abuse codes: 2 days. Email-sent notes: 30 days.
- Visit counts: kept as totals with no personal details.
- Messages, mistake reports and “what’s missing” requests: deleted automatically 12 months after they arrive.
- Voice recordings: deleted automatically 90 days after we’ve handled them.
- Minyan times: approved times stay while they’re published. The sender’s phone and email are deleted automatically after 12 months.
- Advertising requests: deleted automatically after 24 months.
- Planner accounts and saved trips: kept until you delete them. We review and delete accounts with no sign-in for 24 months.
- WhatsApp helper: its technical log is trimmed automatically when it gets large. We review and delete its records of who it answered after 12 months.
9. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to see, correct or delete anything you sent us. Email frumtrip.info@gmail.com (or info@frumtrip.com) with what you sent and roughly when. We’ll answer within 30 days. Planner users can also delete their account themselves (section 2). If you live in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your local data-protection authority.
10. Children
FrumTrip is a general travel guide and isn’t aimed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect their information. If you think a child sent us details, email us and we’ll delete them.
11. Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top.
